The Aesthetics of Wind Farms

So, this essay at Design Observer brought out the academic geek in me, but I really enjoyed Justin Good’s philosophical meanderings on the aesthetics of wind farms. In a nutshell, Justin considers the NIMBY response to wind farms as “ugly” within the context of modernist aesthetics, and offers an alternative that frames beauty within an ecological conception of “form follows function.” Not light reading, certainly, but definitely thought-provoking. Thanks to founding writer Bill Drenttel for passing this along.
