The History of Earth Day [Infographic]

Happy Earth Day, everyone! Truthfully, many can attest that I tend to get cranky about this event, mostly because my inbox tends to fill up with PR pitches tying all sorts of products and services to the environment. Yes, Earth Day’s become very commercial; the roots of the celebration didn’t start there, though, and still make Earth Day an occasion to celebrate.

A little foggy on the history of Earth Day? Not a problem: our friends at Kars4Kids have put together a great slideshow, as well as the infographic below. Once you’re finished, get away from the compute and go outside… that’s where the real celebration is!

As always, if you’ve got thoughts (or complaints or corrections), share ’em…

What a great infographic! I think a lot of people have lost sight of what Earth Day is really about. I view it as a time to make new commitments to minimize my global footprint.

I’ve added this page to my StumbleUpon. πŸ™‚
