Sustainability: the Key to a Self-Sufficient Lifestyle [Infographic]

We green types get accused of loving nature, the environment, etc., more than human beings a lot. But, from my perspective, an environmentally sustainable lifestyle is pretty human friendly: not only do we all need clean air, water, and soil to survive, but being mindful of our consumption of resources provides opportunities for economic independence, as well. In fact, I’d argue that sustainability is key to a self-sufficient lifestyle in this day and age.

Don’t believe me? Well, take a look at the infographic below. If you could largely provide for your own energy, food and water, wouldn’t that put a big dent your expenses? Sure, these things involve work, but I’d take a day in the garden over one in a cubicle, or on an assembly line, at any time. Self-sufficiency isn’t just about providing for yourself and your family; it’s about doing so in a manner that fits your values and priorities.
