Environmental Defense Fund: New Online Resource Will Help Companies Go Green

Posted in:

From left, a row of windmills, solar panels and a rain drop reflecting the Earth call to mind eco-friendly energy sources and sustainable business practices.Making green the new business as usual is catching on fast. Smart business leaders are looking for ways to cut costs and reduce their environmental impact — but they may not know exactly how to do it.

Environmental Defense Fund has just launched the Innovation Exchange, a first-of-its-kind online resource that allows businesses to quickly identify steps they can take, from greening their fleets to reducing paper use.

The new EDF site provides companies with recommendations, case studies, publications and tools to make changes that are good for the environment and the bottom line, for example:

The Get Started section includes recommendations for companies just beginning to understand their environmental performance that need guidance on everything from measuring impact to taking concrete action.

Many of the tools, best practices and case studies on the site are based on EDF’s 20 years of experience creating environmental innovations through partnering with Fortune 500 companies including McDonalds, Wal-Mart and FedEx. The Exchange also includes links to external resources vetted by EDF experts.

In the coming months, EDF will build out the interactive aspects of the Exchange and develop offline initiatives such as webinars, training programs and fellowships.

If you know someone who can influence strategy and operations at a company, tell them about it — innovation.edf.org. And we welcome feedback, suggestions and additions.
