Project Coordinator: NYC Compost Project

Company: Queens Botanical Garden

The Project Coordinator for the NYC Compost Project hosted by Queens Botanical Garden reports to the Compost Project Manager. This person is primarily responsible for delivering workshops and trainings (including the yearly Master Composter course), providing technical assistance to community compost sites, and planning public outreach events. This person must be able to track all of their activities and efforts and submit data to the Project Manager in pre-defined quantitative or narrative format as needed.

Skills/Abilities/Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with minimum two years of related work experience
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills (inclusive of Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and Google forms)
  • Foundation in the basic science of composting and a strong interest in learning and teaching best practices in urban composting
  • Strong public speaking skills; able to lead workshops, trainings and presentations in an informal setting
  • Commitment to the values and mission of NYC Compost Project and Queens Botanical Garden
  • Good sense of humor, flexibility and openness to learning
  • Comfortable with and sensitive to a wide range of people and environments
  • Valid driver’s license.

National Director of Development

Company: Random Acts of Flowers

The ideal candidate will be a fundraising expert with proven, successful efforts in multiple disciplines including, but not limited to, direct-asks, grants, special events and corporate sponsorships. The role will include creating and implementing an overall development plan and working with the national team as well as the branch-level fundraisers to execute a successful plan and continually refine funding models and goals across the organization.

Skills/Abilities/Background:

  • Four-year college degree and demonstrated work experience in the areas of fundraising, nonprofits, executive management or related fields.
  • Minimum of five (5) years fundraising experience with proven success of reaching goals of over $100,000 per event or initiative.
  • Strong management and leadership skills and effective team-building abilities.
  • Superior organizational and communication skills (written & oral); detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Self-motivated individual able to work independently yet be an integral part of the RAF team while also being able to interact with the board of directors, volunteers and community supporters.
