Try Not to Breathe!

From Alternet, an explanation of the Bush administration’s move towards “risk avoidance” as environmental policy. Essentially, if fish is contaminated by mercury, don’t eat fish! Kind of like an argument I heard blaming Enron employees and stockholders for their own predicaments: “they should’ve diversified more, yada, yada…” Yes, they should’ve, and pregnant women should be careful about fish consumption, but that shouldn’t lift responsibility from the people who committed criminal and/or harmful acts in the first place. Remember, when you’re speaking to your conservative friends that “personal responsibility” only applies to us little folk; the money people can always claim to be “promoting economic growth…”
