Who’d ‘a’ thunk it??

Been doing an inordinate amount of searching this morning, looking for anyone that can explain how Bush won such a decisive victory — not a blow-out, mind you, a la Reagan in ’84, but a definite victory. If you’ve got the answer, let me know — I sure don’t…

Lots of pundits are looking for the bright side — here’s mine… Bob at Howling still has a raison d’etre. Hate to say it, Bob, but I wish this one had put you out of business — it would be great not to have any news of “the Bush assault on the environment” to report.

I don’t know what this means for the sustainability movement. Despite the assault on the environment, and the ignorance of obvious economic benefits of sustainable development during Dubya I, the sustainable business community seems to have grown and thrived. My conversations with folks at GreenBusiness.net sometimes seem surreal, as these entrepreneurs are doing pretty well compared to overall economic growth. I think that will continue, but without the infusion of intellectual and financial resources a Kerry administration promised, the growth will be slower than it could/should be. Or, perhaps, could sustainable business ultimately become a truly subversive force? That is, could it take the largesse of the Bushie’s pro-business agenda, and use those resources to undermine the assault on the environment, the commons and the larger community? We shall certainly see…
