Global trade=global warming

A thoughtful commentary from Kumar Venkat in today’s Salon argues for the connection between the expansion of global trade and global warming/climate change. Most interesting to me is the claim of exchange of similar goods (“The U.K., for example, imported 126 million liters of milk and exported 270 million liters in 1997.”) — what a phenomenal waste of resources and human effort. Is British milk really that good???
