Another Perspective on Earth Hour (PPB #24)

greenpeace finland

When I wrote my post on Earth Hour in the wee hours, I did not know that Beth Buczynski would also be covering the topic for her guest post at the Ecospheric Blog. But I’m glad she did… she brings in some of the political controversy surrounding the event (“Human Achievement Hour,” anyone), and encourages us greenies to stand firm…

It’s always interesting to see how post from other bloggers (who may or may not know each other) may overlap somewhat… I thought of Jess’ post on optimism as I was reading through Beth’s thoughts. I did give our guests a general theme to work with — “Radical Sustainability, Ordinary People” — and they’ve all written some really perceptive posts… but it’s also cool to see how often ideas align.

We’re still interested in hearing how you might be spending Earth Hour tonight… share your plans with us!

Thanks to New York City event space and gallery rental space Open House Gallery for their pledge to the Blogathon!

When we turn out the lights we talk, everyone. We used to live in Africa before returning to Ireland 10 years ago so lack of power is never a big deal. Last year Earth Hour for us meant sitting round the fire telling stories like we used to.
