Big Biodiesel Coming to North Dakota

From Sen. Kent Conrad’s office via Green Car Congress, an announcement that

a private company is going to construct a $50 million biodiesel manufacturing plant in Minot — an investment that will utilize North Dakota’s natural resources and pump millions of dollars into the local economy and produce hundreds of jobs.

Construction on the plant is expected to begin in August, with the first sale of biodiesel products likely in December 2006. The facility will be the largest biodiesel refinery in North America, able to produce 100,000 tons of premium biodiesel annually from more than 355,000 acres of North Dakota-grown canola.

While I’m pretty sure that $50 million dollars is peanuts for the traditional oil and gas industries, does this mean that “Big Biodiesel” is coming?
