The debate rages on over wind power. In this op-ed from the San Francisco Chronicle, author Peter Asmus doesn’t bring a whole lot of new information to the argument, but does remind us that the birds that so many right-wing types have recently fallen in love with also stand to suffer from climate change. I did find this claim interesting:
Most wind farms, including the Altamont Pass, have yet to report clear and compelling evidence that current levels of mortality attributed to wind turbines threaten the survival of endangered birds, including the golden eagle.
I wonder if wind power supporters dare play this game, as battles over numbers seldom seem to end. Really, I think the argument in the headline is one of the most compelling Asmus offers; I wonder why other wind supporters haven’t taken this tack.
