Dealing with Bird Deaths at Altamont

The Altamont Pass wind farm is a hazard to some endangered species of birds, and, according to this article from the San Franciso Chronicle, both state officials and envrionmentalists are working to change this. Altamont’s give rise to the legend that “wind farms kill endangered birds,” but, as wildlife biologist Linda Spiegel notes, Altamont’s situation was unique.
