Dubya’s talking about oil addiction and promoting renewable energy — WTF?? Even the normally-fawning MSM is scratching it’s collective head on that one, but, as MSNBC points out, the numbers tell a different story:
Eben Burnham-Snyder, a spokesman for the Natural Resources Defense Council, said this yearβs energy efficiency and renewable energy portion of the budget is slightly smaller than that in the last year of the previous administration. When inflation is factored in, it amounts to a decrease of more than $130 million, he said.
βThis is a series of photo-ops entirely driven by polls that tell the president that he isnβt doing enough on energy,β said Philip Clapp, president of the National Environmental Trust. βThe president is talking a good game, but his budget doesnβt back it up.β
OK, that’s more like it… And then there’s the news that Dubya and Michael Crichton are now best buddies… And his bold plans for nuclear energy (which, if I remember right, he once labeled “renewable”). Good, things are making sense again…
UPDATE: And now they’re making even more sense…
