From Green Car Congress, news that Gov. Tom Vilsack of Iowa has signed Executive Order #41 (in PDF), which directs “state agencies to improve upon their current practices of conserving energy.” Mike has a list of some of the practices this order sets in place, along with a note of irony: apparently, “…the Governor just three days earlier had approved an increase in the speed limit on Iowa highways to 70 mph.” Still, when you’re sitting in a red state with a Republican governor ready to give away the farm in terms of environmental protection (or anything remotely protective of the common good), Iowa’s move looks pretty progressive…
