Smart, Stylish and Green

From RenewableEnergyAccess.com, details of plans for Santa Clara University’s new student center on their Mission campus. Among the features that will be incorporated into “one of the first entirely ‘green’ academic buildings in the U.S…” are “[s]traw bale walls, photovoltaic cells, recycled textiles, and furniture featuring locally harvested wood…” And while it may seem that such a building might stick out like a sore thumb, architect Sean Huang notes that “the design of the Commons Building works in harmony with the mission style of architecture that is central to SCU’s thematic campus design.”
