Time for a Green March

From Tidepool‘s Ray Ring, a suggestion that environmentalists stage a “Green March” on Washington. I agree with Ring that the environmental community needs to join together and make it’s voice heard, but I also have to wonder if the “march on Washington” concept is particularly effective any more. Ring cites the 1963 march for civil rights, and that was certainly a momentous occassion that changed our country. But I can also think of more recent marches that are already forgotten. We need to organize and speak out — we also need to think “outside the box” of traditional activism tactics.
