This is to announce the official launch of the CONVENIENT TRUTHS Video Contest hosted by Treehugger.com, Seventh Generation and Weather.com and endorsed by former Vice-President Al Gore.
Starting November 21, 2006 you have until February 2007 to create a 1-2 minute video on everyday solutions to climate change.
Winning entries will be chosen by web viewers and expert judges, including Laurie David, Arianna Huffington, Dr. Heidi Cullen, and Darryl Hannah.
Ten winning entries will be featured on weather.com’s climate change site and will be packaged and distributed by Ironweed Films. Prizes, valued at $25,000, are designed to reduce winners’ carbon emissions in areas of travel, transportation and home. They include: an all-expense paid trip for two to the Alaskan wilderness from Alaskan Wildland Adventures (AlaskaWildLand.com), travel gear from Patagonia (Patagonia.com), a green home makeover from EcoHome Improvement (EcoHomeImprovement.com), Seventh Generation (SeventhGeneration.com) home products, E-V Sunny Bicycles (TherapyProducts.com) from Thera-P-Cushion, Voltaic solar backpacks (VoltaicSystems.com) , a Zipcar (ZipCar.com) membership, and carbon offsets (DriveNeutral.org) .
