We’re Past the Terrible Twos!

That’s right — sustainablog turns three years old today! It’s been a hell of ride, and there’s much more to come, but I wanted to take a moment to recognize this milestone. I particularly want to extend my gratitude to many of you out there who have supported this blog, and made it a genuine community vs. just some guy ranting about environmental issues. Darren Rowse at ProBlogger had a great idea a few weeks ago: saying “Thank You” to the other blogs and sites that have generated traffic and attention. So I want to do just that. While my switching of analytics programs makes it nearly impossible to recognize those who’ve directed the most traffic to sustainablog since the second anniversary, here are the top ten for this year so far:

  1. Treehugger
  2. The Oil Drum
  3. Gristmill
  4. Eco Business Links
  5. Green Car Congress
  6. Climate Crisis (official An Inconvenient Truth site)
  7. Musings of an Eco-Entrepreneur
  8. The Energy Blog
  9. EcoGeek
  10. The Crunchy Con blog (wait until Jonah Goldberg hears about that!)

I’m certainly grateful to all of these blogs for featuring sustainablog in posts and on their blogrolls — I couldn’t have made it this far without your support. Of course, their are certainly other blogs that may not have provided as much traffic, but have still been essential to sustainablog’s success. Here are ten more that deserve a shout-out (at the very least), in no particular order:

  1. The Higher Pie
  2. Eyeteeth: A Journal of Incisive Ideas
  3. commonground
  4. WorldChanging
  5. GreenLAGirl
  6. Groovy Green
  7. City Hippy
  8. Gil Friend
  9. Two Steps Forward
  10. The Watt

That just scratches the surface: so many more of you have been very generous with your ideas, your praise, and even your constructive criticism — I am most grateful! I promise to stick around as long as you’ll have me… Of course, not all of you are bloggers, so thank you to the readers that come, regularly or irregularly, quietly or loudly… I value every one of you!

One more thing: a few of you may be thinking “Uh, Jeff, what about Blogging ‘Round the Clock?” Good question. With not having the whole summer off (there were definitely some perks in academia), I’ve been a bit slow pulling everything together the way I’d like. But, stay tuned… we’ll definitely do it. Wouldn’t pass up the chance for a good time like that for anything…

Again, many, many thanks to all of you! This has been, and continues to be, one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.
