{"id":1055,"date":"2005-04-14T20:07:00","date_gmt":"2005-04-14T20:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sustainablog.greenoptions.com\/2005\/04\/14\/taking-on-climate-change-in-class\/"},"modified":"2005-04-14T20:07:00","modified_gmt":"2005-04-14T20:07:00","slug":"taking-on-climate-change-in-class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sustainablog.org\/articles\/taking-on-climate-change-in-class\/","title":{"rendered":"Taking on Climate Change in Class"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I <a href=\"http:\/\/sustainablog.blogspot.com\/2005\/04\/vote-for-your-favorite-flat-earth-er.html\">posted<\/a> the other day about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flatearthaward.org\/\">Flat Earth Award<\/a> without realizing that this site and the awards themselves are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/2005\/0412\/p12s01-legn.html\">a project by a group of students at Middlebury College in Vermont<\/a>.  They conceived of the idea as part of a course on climate change and activism, and took their cue to use humor from Comedy Central&#8217;s &#8220;The Daily Show.&#8221;  As you read the whole article, though, you realize that these students aren&#8217;t simple jokers; they&#8217;ve clearly got a handle on the issue of climate change itself and it&#8217;s misrepresentation by the right-wing press.
