Whether you&#8217;ve got big plans or not, I hope you&#8217;ll get to spend a little time with some form of earth-friendly activity today. I&#8217;ve got a ton of papers to grade, but also hope to get out into the yard with my newest batch of worm castings&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a busy week at work, so the postings have been slow. But, of course, the Sustainable Blogosphere has been abuzz with Earth Day happenings and other sustainable events, so I thought a &#8220;scan&#8221; would be appropriate&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li>Diana at democracyforcalifornia <a href=\"http:\/\/www.democracyforcalifornia.com\/blog\/archives\/000698.html\">points us<\/a> to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freep.com\/voices\/editorials\/eearth22e_20050422.htm\">great op-ed<\/a> at the <em>Detroit Free Press<\/em> noting that the cry for &#8220;Earth Day Every Day&#8221; isn&#8217;t just a cool slogan any more &#8212; it should be national policy.<\/li>\n<li>Bradford Plumer at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/mojoblog\/archives\/2005\/04\/independence_or.html\">the MoJo blog <\/a>links to a great <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A5001-2005Apr20.html\">WaPo article<\/a> on the debate over energy policy in DC, and notes that Dubya could create a &#8220;Nixon goes to China&#8221; kind of legacy by addressing energy issues with honesty and substance. Hey, we can always dream&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>No one&#8217;s covered the details on the energy bill that House passed yesterday better than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greencarcongress.com\/2005\/04\/house_passes_en.html\">Mike at Green Car Congress<\/a>. I&#8217;m certainly not missing the irony of the timing here, but we&#8217;ve still got the Senate &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.gov\/general\/contact_information\/senators_cfm.cfm\">call you Senators<\/a> and encourage them to damn this obscenity to the proper circle of legislative Hell.<\/li>\n<li>WorldChanging <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldchanging.com\/archives\/002577.html\">takes note<\/a> of a pair of article from <em>The Economist<\/em> on ecological economics. The Commons Blog also <a href=\"http:\/\/commonsblog.org\/archives\/000399.php\">comments<\/a> on the second of the two articles, &#8220;Rescuing Environmentalism.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>HippyShopper <a href=\"http:\/\/wirelessdigest.typepad.com\/hippyshopper\/2005\/04\/downshifting_is.html\">reminds us (or tells us &#8212; I didn&#8217;t know this)<\/a> that next week is National Downshifting Week in Great Britain. What a wonderful concept!<\/li>\n<li>Also on the British front, Spinneyhead shows us Americans that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spinneyhead.co.uk\/EcoHouse\/2005\/04\/its-only-future-no-need-to-worry.php\">it&#8217;s &#8220;deja vu all over again&#8221; for the environment<\/a> in their national election campaign.<\/li>\n<li>The Composter reminds us that, while we celebrate our achievements today, we&#8217;ve still got <a href=\"http:\/\/compostlandia.blogspot.com\/2005\/04\/exxons-junk-science.html\">some really well-funded opponents pushing scientific hogwash.<\/a> Remember, folks, it&#8217;s not paranoia if they really are out to get you&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>TriplePundit takes note of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.triplepundit.com\/pages\/the-worlds-first-100-solarpowe-001023.php\">plans in Vadodara, India<\/a>, to make this state capital India&#8217;s first totally solar city.<\/li>\n<li>Earth News Wire <a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthnewswire.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=138\">announces<\/a> the winners of Supporting Entrepreneurs for Environment and Development (Seed) Initiative awards.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.howlingthemoon.org\/archives\/2005\/04\/energy_firms_ta.html\">Howling<\/a> points us to a <a href=\"http:\/\/sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?file=\/c\/a\/2005\/04\/20\/MNGA4CBM461.DTL&amp;type=printable\"><em>San Francisco Chronicle<\/em> article<\/a> on the pork bonanza for oil, gas and coal in the House&#8217;s energy bill, while the NRDC Action Fund blog <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nrdcactionfund.org\/archives\/2005\/04\/whos_behind_the.html\">reminds us <\/a>that those same industries wrote the bill in the first place.<\/li>\n<li>The Sierra Club&#8217;s Daily Scoop points us to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sierraclub.org\/scoop\/archive\/2005_04_20_index.asp#111395043876941971\">the latest in major journalistic coverage of global warming from the <em>New York Times<\/em><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>And GreenMedia.info reminds us that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenmedia.info\/eng\/more\/1041_0_5_0_M\/\">we do have reasons to celebrate.<\/a><\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>Of course, if I&#8217;ve missed something (and I&#8217;m sure I have), comment away!
