From ABC News Australia<\/a> via Treehugger, another addition to the growing list of poop-to-power innovations: converting pig poop to electricity<\/a>:<\/p>\n Pig manure could become a source of electricity in the south of New South Wales under a development application lodged by Energy Australia.<\/p>\n The company plans to build a methane powered plant which will harvest the gas from five large lagoons filled with pig manure near Corowa.<\/p>\n Energy Australia says the plant will produce enough power to run the piggery, as well as 1,500 homes.<\/p>\n It will also stop methane, which is a powerful greenhouse gas, from being released into the atmosphere and prevent odours from the piggery wafting across the Corowa township.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Technorati tags: poop-to-power<\/a>, Australia<\/a><\/p>\n
