{"id":1353,"date":"2005-06-30T12:38:00","date_gmt":"2005-06-30T12:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sustainablog.greenoptions.com\/2005\/06\/30\/the-numbers-are-here\/"},"modified":"2005-06-30T12:38:00","modified_gmt":"2005-06-30T12:38:00","slug":"the-numbers-are-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sustainablog.org\/articles\/the-numbers-are-here\/","title":{"rendered":"The Numbers are Here&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, I <a href=\"http:\/\/sustainablog.blogspot.com\/2005\/06\/senate-energy-bill-passes.html\">lamented<\/a> that a <em>New York Times<\/em> article on the passage of the Senate&#8217;s energy bill didn&#8217;t give the kinds of details needed to evaluate it.  RenewableEnergyAccess.com comes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.renewableenergyaccess.com\/rea\/news\/story?id=33906\">to the resuce<\/a> with an op-ed and comprehensive breakdown of provisions in the bill for renewable energy.  Jesse Brohl&#8217;s take is largely positive, although it notes (as does a commenter) that until this bill is reconciled with the House&#8217;s much &#8220;dirtier&#8221; bill, we need to hold off celebrating.  So, what do you think?  Has the Senate taken positive steps forward overall to encourage the development of renewable power, or do provisions supporting more traditional power forms like fossil fuels and nuclear power cancel these out or even outweigh them?
