Barton?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>That seems to be the position of Rep. Joe Barton himself, who, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prospect.org\/web\/page.ww?section=root&amp;name=ViewWeb&amp;articleId=9932\">this article<\/a> from <em>The American Prospect<\/em>, has taken it upon himself and the House&#8217;s Energy and Commerce committee to settle the &#8220;debate&#8221; over global warming.  And how&#8217;s he going to do that?  By badgering the authors of the &#8220;hockey stick&#8221; model.  But, of course, this isn&#8217;t to say that Rep. Barton doesn&#8217;t have, you know, scientific credentials or anything.  He has been honored by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.exxonsecrets.org\/html\/orgfactsheet.php?id=13\">Annapolis Center for Science-Based Public Policy<\/a>, which cited his &#8220;rational, science-based thinking and policy-making.&#8221;  And he&#8217;s taken lots of money from the oil and gas industry, and they only fund politicians with solid scientific backgrounds&#8230; right?<\/p>\n<p>Your tax dollars at work, folks&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: Dave Roberts <a href=\"http:\/\/gristmill.grist.org\/story\/2005\/7\/5\/165531\/1493\">rounds up reactions from around the blogosphere<\/a> to Rep.
