{"id":1515,"date":"2005-08-03T16:04:00","date_gmt":"2005-08-03T16:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sustainablog.greenoptions.com\/2005\/08\/03\/organic-golf-in-australia\/"},"modified":"2017-08-03T12:07:35","modified_gmt":"2017-08-03T16:07:35","slug":"organic-golf-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sustainablog.org\/articles\/organic-golf-in-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"Organic Golf in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve posted a <a href=\"http:\/\/sustainablog.blogspot.com\/2005\/06\/links-that-live-lightly-on-land.html\">couple<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/sustainablog.blogspot.com\/2005\/06\/links-that-live-lightly-on-land.html\">items<\/a> recently on efforts by golf course owners and developers to &#8220;green&#8221; their industry here in the US. Treehugger points us to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.treehugger.com\/files\/2005\/08\/kabi_organic_go.php\">the Kabi Organic Golf Course<\/a> in Australia, a course that goes even further in the direction of &#8220;sustainable golf&#8221; (feel free to take a whack at that phrase):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Here are 18 holes worth of organic certification by the Biological Farmers Association (BFA). Meaning it\u2019s free of \u201cany synthetic fertilisers, pesticides and or any other chemicals that are traditional ones used on golf courses.\u201d What\u2019s more, the clubhouse restaurant lists a menu of organic beef, chicken, and herbs. Or feast upon oranges, lemons, limes, mandarins and grapefruits from the courses\u2019s organic orchard. And if you need to take a load off your hind, then the compost toilets await your deposit, so they can feed any liquid nutrient back to the courses\u2019s forests, via sand filters.
