That title should immediately mark this post as “pie in the sky,” but John Markos O’Neill at Into Future offers a number of ideas<\/a> that could be practically implemented to at least make driving less appealing. Of course, without major systemic changes in mass transit, there’s no real chance of even approaching such a lofty goal, and in the US, the association of driving with individual freedom has to be addressed. Still, why not set the bar high? A few of these concepts seem unworkable and even a little bizarre (not that that’s a bad thing), but a combination of some of the more practical ones could have positive effects. <\/p>\n This will likely be my only post today — spent most of the morning working on my first column for Greener magazine<\/a>.
