Hansen<\/a>  that the Bush administration tried to silence him as he issued public warnings about the dangers of global warming, and called for immediate reductions in emissions of greenhouse gases.  Environmental Action is asking concerned Americans <a href=\"http:\/\/www.environmental-action.org\/gw.asp?id=1319&amp;id4=ES\">to sign a petition<\/a> on its website that asks NASA administrator Michael Griffin (a Bush apointee) to stop the scare tactics and let Hansen and other scientists report their findings to the public.
