There is a tremendous opportunity to reduce landfill waste from schools, which generate more than 40,000 tons of refuse per year. \u00a0Setting up the infrastructure in schools to capture the recyclable and compostable portions of this waste stream, as well as teaching the City\u2019s 1.1 million students about waste reduction, materials reuse, and proper recycling practices, will help to increase recycling rates and instill sustainable lifestyle practices that last a lifetime.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skills\/Abilities\/Background:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Minimum<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or<\/li>\n<li>High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or<\/li>\n<li>Education and\/or experience which is equivalent to <strong>\u201c1\u201d <\/strong>or <strong>\u201c2\u201d <\/strong>above.
