The House vote on The National Uniformity for Food Act<\/a> got by me last week, but it did pass, though by smaller than expected margins. Melissa at Living Green in LA points to<\/a> several resources available for making your Senators aware of the problems with this legislation: the Union of Concerned Scientists<\/a> and the Organic Consumers Association<\/a> have both created action alerts, and Grist (of course) has a great overview<\/a> with links to other articles. The NRDC has a partial review<\/a> of the various state laws that this bill would override (in PDF). Apparently, the barrage of criticism did have an effect, with several House sponsors pulling out — let’s keep up the pressure to see if we can’t get a better result in the Senate. Otherwise, we’ll all need a lot more of the pink stuff…<\/p>\n
