What I can say about them is that, in conjunction with a new program by Clif Bar, Gomez is seriously greening its touring operations. Clif Bar&#8217;s new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clifbar.com\/ourstory\/green_notes.cfm?CFID=8346539&amp;CFTOKEN=58542713\">GreenNotes<\/a> program hasn&#8217;t officially launched yet, but it has started fulfilling its mission of &#8220;[providing] resources to help touring bands reduce their environmental footprint and [encouraging] their fans to do the same.&#8221;  For Gomez, this means a whole range of new activities and practices, including<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using biodiesel to fuel its tour bus<\/li>\n<li>offsetting the tour&#8217;\u0092s CO2 emissions through the purchase of clean, renewable wind energy credits<\/li>\n<li>Using recycled paper and soy based inks for printed materials<\/li>\n<li>Providing organic cotton merchandise options for its fans<\/li>\n<li>Requesting organic food backstage at all shows<\/li>\n<li>Minimizing the idling of tour buses<\/li>\n<li>Staying at hotels identified as more sustainable <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nothing about smashing guitars or trashing those more sustainable hotel rooms, but, again, I&#8217;m showing my age&#8230; Given the fact that bands ranging from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.treehugger.com\/files\/2005\/01\/ecoceleb_dave_m_1.php\">Dave Matthews Band<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.treehugger.com\/files\/2006\/07\/pearl_jam_annou.php\">Pearl Jam<\/a> are taking steps to green their tours, performances and even <a href=\"http:\/\/sustainablog.blogspot.com\/2006\/03\/kelley-stoltz-album-is-green-e.html\">CDs<\/a>, I&#8217;d guess Clif Bar is creating this program at a really opportune time.
