And, if they like it, they might pay you up to $10 million.<\/p>\n<p>Project \u201c<a title=\"Google 10 to the 100th project contest\" href=\"http:\/\/www.project10tothe100.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">10 to the 100th<\/a>\u201d, in honour of Google\u2019s 10th anniversary of helping you surf the web (and email and calendar and who knows what else these days), the internet behemoth is asking people to submit their ideas that will have broad impacts on people\u2019s lives.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Google is attempting to set as few guidelines as possible, so while they do have the following category list, I particularly enjoy the final one.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community: How can we help connect people, build communities and protect unique cultures?<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity: How can we help people better provide for themselves and their families?<\/li>\n<li>Energy: How can we help move the world toward safe, clean, inexpensive energy?<\/li>\n<li>Environment: How can we help promote a cleaner and more sustainable global ecosystem?<\/li>\n<li>Health: How can we help individuals lead longer, healthier lives?<\/li>\n<li>Education: How can we help more people get more access to better education?<\/li>\n<li>Shelter: How can we help ensure that everyone has a safe place to live?<\/li>\n<li>Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don&#8217;t fit into any category at all.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, how does it work? Well, once you\u2019ve headed to the website, submit your proposal (along with a 30 second video if you wish) by October 20th. In January, public voting on the top 100 begins, winnowing them down to 20. These semi-finalists will then be judged by an advisory board, which will announce the top 5.<\/p>\n<p>Got it? Good.
