“Food is the Vehicle, Community is the Destination.”

Kurt at Resource Insights points us to an inspiring speech by CSA farmer Jay Martin at Global Public Media. Martin’s speech is a very thoughtful analysis of the links between agricultural practices and the sense of community (or lack thereof) created by these practices, and argues that sustainable, community-based farming models hold promise not only for addressing myriad environmental problems, but also issues of human health, both at the individual and group levels.

While on the subject, let me also note that the subject of community-supported agriculture is the current hot topic at GreenBusiness.net. This group never ceases to amaze me on the subject matter they can address with knowledge and passion.
