From vivus architecture+design, news of Fannie Mae’s new Energy Efficiency Mortgage Program (in PDF). Some of the program’s highlights:
β’ Recognize energy savings as qualifying income
β’ Allows energy improvements to be financed
β’ Increase home-buying power
β’ Lower energy costs and household expenses
β’ Serve more borrowers β all incomes eligible
β’ Flexible and affordable finance options
β’ Increase home value
β’ Help improve air quality and create a more comfortable living environment
I think this is particularly important because it open up such options to homebuyers that might not otherwise be able to afford some energy-efficiency measures.
