Green Mortgage Concept Comes to the US

From vivus architecture+design, news of Fannie Mae’s new Energy Efficiency Mortgage Program (in PDF). Some of the program’s highlights:

β€’ Recognize energy savings as qualifying income
β€’ Allows energy improvements to be financed
β€’ Increase home-buying power
β€’ Lower energy costs and household expenses
β€’ Serve more borrowers β€” all incomes eligible
β€’ Flexible and affordable finance options
β€’ Increase home value
β€’ Help improve air quality and create a more comfortable living environment

I think this is particularly important because it open up such options to homebuyers that might not otherwise be able to afford some energy-efficiency measures.
